Charles Swanlund


Charles Swanlund worked in the sports and entertainment industries before turning to academia. He received an M.A. from Sam Houston State University. He has taught at Sam Houston State and Blinn College-Bryan, from where he recently retired. He has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and is co-editor and contributor to Single Star of the West: The Republic of Texas, 1836-1845 and A Lone Star Reader. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Central Texas Historical Association, and also served as the Community Liaison for that group. He currently serves as a member of the Advancement Board for the Texas A&M University Press. Charles and his wife Gail established the TSHA award for best Texas history anthology and currently reside in Chappell Hill.
