Chula Vista-Orason: A Growing Community in Cameron County

Chula Vista-Orason is located off State Highway 100 about twelve miles northeast of Brownsville and two miles east of Los Fresnos in east central Cameron County. This residential community began in the 1990s and consists of primarily Hispanic, lower-income families. The first population figures were recorded in the 2000 census when Chula Vista-Orason reported 394 residents. It is part of the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District.
