George Slaughter


George Slaughter began his career as a journalist, reporting for two Texas newspapers. He later worked in San Antonio city government and freelance writing before moving into an award-winning technical writing career. Since 2016 he has reported for several Katy-area news publications.

Slaughter is the author of Spring Branch (Images of America Series, Arcadia Publishing, 2011), a pictorial history of the west Houston neighborhood.

As a TSHA member, Slaughter is a regular contributor to the Handbook of Texas Online and has reviewed books for the Southwestern Historical Quarterly.

Slaughter earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master’s degree in technical communication from Texas Tech University. His website is http://www.georgeslaughter.com.
