Lake Placid is a small lakeside community located south of U.S. Highway 90 and about one mile west-southwest of Seguin in central Guadalupe County. The residential community had begun by the 1960s along Lake Placid, a small reservoir impounded in 1928 on the Guadalupe River. In 1970 the population was 300. The community had grown to 400 in 2000.
