Discover South Mountain, Texas: A Growing Community

South Mountain is located north of U. S. Highway 84 about three miles east of Gatesville in central Coryell County. The town was shown on highway maps by 1970, and by the mid-1980s citizens incorporated. In 1990 South Mountain had a population of 301. That figure increased to 412 in 2000.
