Stringtown was a small rural settlement located on the south bank of the Sulphur River in northwestern Franklin County. This farming community existed from the late 1800s until the early 1900s. Residents included the Elliott, Banks, Barton, Stanley, King, and Moore families. Stringtown was not shown on maps in the 1930s. By the late twentieth century all that remained was a cemetery.
