Deah Berry Mitchell
Deah Berry Mitchell is the founder and CEO of Nostalgia Black Group, a multimedia company dedicated to preserving Black cultural history through storytelling, public speaking, tourism, and technology. A native of Sherman, Texas, she grew up steeped in the traditions of Southern soul food and carries that legacy into her work today.
Now based in Fort Worth, Berry Mitchell blends her Southern roots with global influences—including her Japanese ancestry and time spent in Houston’s diverse culinary scene—to explore and celebrate Black historical foodways. She is a freelance writer with a regular column in The Dallas Morning News and contributes Black history content to Visit Fort Worth and other platforms.
Active in the cultural tourism space, she serves on the Fort Worth Black Travel & Tourism Advisory Committee. Berry Mitchell is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in history and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. She brings a deep passion for history, travel, and cross-cultural exchange to everything she does.
